How Bright Lights Endanger Starry Nights
Dr. Anne Blackwell, an astronomer at the University of Michigan, presented a thorough and interesting discussion on the issue of worsening light pollution and efforts to combat it at the South Haven Speakers Series Thursday, May 14. Over 80 attended and and got a better understanding of how light pollution, or the excessive use of artificial lighting at night, is a problem that disrupts peoples’ sleep, animal migrations, and the grand view of the twinkling stars above.
As usual Tom Renner was present to provide photos. The program was also videoed and that will be posted in a couple of weeks.
