We’ve just completed our second year of presentations sponsored by the South Haven Speakers Series and its time to share some thoughts, reflections, and notes of thanks and gratitude.
It was less than two years ago when a small group of people gathered to brainstorm and develop plans for what would become the Speakers Series. We were committed to a mission that focused on “inspiration and intellectual stimulation for interested members of the community.” We settled on the idea that our work would center of “Issues, Innovations, and Ideas shaping our lives”.
We’ve worked hard to stay focused on our mission through the first two seasons. Nine presentations later, we are still focused on our mission and vision. We’ve averaged over 100 people in attendance at each event and continue to see a strong audience participation from an expanding area in SW Michigan. We have plans to stretch our reach through an aggressive marketing plan that includes expanded social media and a new look.
As we close out 2016, we want to express a special note of thanks to our all volunteer board of directors for their tireless work. To Tom Renner who does our press releases, advertising, and photography, thanks so much for your support. To Dick Brunvand who is always there with his video equipment, you bring our presentations to life on the web and Facebook. To Don and Carole Hodgman, our thanks for your wonderful work in making our audience happy with the wine and cheese receptions.
Thanks also to Lake Michigan College, your hospitality in making LMC our home has been exceptional. And, to our audience members who seem to attend every event, you have made our success possible. Finally, to our Benefactors including the South Haven Community Foundation, Meijer, and Don and Carole Hodgman your financial support has made all of this possible.
Watch for an exciting announcement about our speaker line up for 2017, coming soon!
